STAFF
President
The President’s primary goal and duty is to run UKS and facilitate all actions in and out of the club including representing UKS at all major functions, setting the agenda and leading all Staff Meetings (that occur once every 2 weeks), Staff Retreat, and Staff Developments. The President is also in charge of some logistical duties like booking the room for quarterly meetings and re-registering the organization every year.
External Vice President
The External Vice President is in charge of public relations outside of UCLA. This position entails gathering contacts with the other Khmer organizations around California and passing down information with what the schools are doing. The External Vice President also coprograms the United Khmer Students Internship.
Internal Vice President
The Internal Vice President’s job is to act as a liaison and relay information between UKS and other organizations on campus attending Asian Pacific Coalition’s (APC) board of reps meetings and South East Asian Coalition (SEAC) meetings, both of which are held every other week throughout the year along with the promotion of APC and SEAC events and encourage members to participate. The Internal Vice President also coprograms the United Khmer Students Internship.
Public Relations Officer
This position entails one to promote UKS events and document them for the whole public audience to see. Primarily responsible for maintaining the UKS email account and attending every staff and general meetings to take minutes. Other responsibilities for this job include updating the UKS webpage with any relevant updates, events, information, etc. pertaining to UKS, spread the word about upcoming events on FB, going to events and taking pictures, and finally archiving the pictures onto FB, Instagram, Website, or any other social networking sites. From this, the public is able to be aware of what is going on with UKS visually.
Social Relations Officer
The Social Relations Officer spearheads the planning of each bi-weekly general meeting, assesses the status of the socio-emotional health of general members and find suitable approaches to addressing, initiates the planning of socials throughout each quarter, and encourages members to follow UKS social media.
Fiscal Coordinator
Fiscal Coordinator handles most of the generic money situations, taking care of any reimbursements that people need, keeping track of spending on a well organized document, and is also in charge of organizing fundraisers.
KORE Director
Oversees all of KORE. Is the primary representative of the organization both within and outside of the UCLA community. Directs KORE Staff through events – assigns duties, walks them through tasks, etc. Set the overall structure of all events, in which Coordinators fill in with details (i.e. icebreakers, activities, discussions, etc.). Primary safety officer (i.e. takes steps to ensure youth safety like mentor training, Livescans, etc.) and handles the club funding (i.e. funding apps, hearings). Ensures that there is continuous communication between KORE and UKS so that the two are properly integrated and are in a symbiotic relationship.
KORE Coordinator
Prepares materials and necessities, such as notes, handouts, and worksheets, for all events. Create and/or choose activities (google ice breakers upon ice breakers upon ice breakers haha) for all events (develops “simple agenda” into “detailed agenda” for all events and meetings). Facilitates events on the day of; ensures flow of activities – coordinate logistics of all events by securing venues, food, transportation, educational materials/resources, etc. Manages all communication shared with mentors and mentees . Keep in touch with counselors and teachers at high schools in Long Beach. Go to high schools to give presentations to recruit mentees! Support KORE director at funding hearings (moral support or give opening/closing for hearings
Culture Night Director
The Culture Night Director is in charge of a mixture of the creative side of the project and the logistical/financial aspect of it. As a part of writing the script, the director(s) will be responsible for creating audition times/read-through sessions/rehearsals with the potential cast. They will be casting the play and running all rehearsals, and selecting what they want to see in the show. On top of that, the director(s) will have to figure out individuals fit for being Committee Heads who are in charge of the dance segments (classical, traditional, and modern), the props, costumes, and martial arts segment. The Director must work closely with the Committee Heads to make sure everything is on track.The director must keep in mind that the absence of a producer may mean that he/she will assume the duties of a producer as well.
Culture Night Assistant
The Culture Night Assistant supports the Director in logistical duties, oversee other committees, assist the Producer, oversee smaller CN-related events leading up to Culture Night, helps in maintaining external relationships with community members alongside the External Vice President, and promoting the event alongside the Public Relations Officer.
Culture Night Producer
The Culture Night Producer is responsible for duties that are rather outside of the creative space and contribute to the overall happening of the show. Some of the responsibilities that the producer is in charge include: coordinating the rental of the venues, booking the venue, doing paperwork for funding (CPC, BOD, AVC Contingency) and attending funding hearings. In addition, the producer may also keep track of money collected from Sponsorship Walk, which funds the majority of the fees associated with Culture Night. If a particular person is not the designated producer, the director will assume these duties.
